Puppy See, Puppy Do
Share
The average length of pregnancy for a dog is 63 days (lucky them!) therefore when puppies are born they quite underdeveloped. So much so, they are born without the ability to see or hear. Their eyes normally open between 10-14 days and they can normally hear from 2 weeks onwards.
The first sense a puppy develops is touch. Normally from birth the mother will lick and nuzzle them to stimulate this sense.
This sense continues to be important throughout your dogs life in the right way of course. Getting to how your puppy responds to touch will allow you to recognise when they are not comfortable and intervene when necessary. Touch is a huge part of bonding your pet ❤️
